1. Smeg BCC02
This sleek, compact, and striking machine, created by Milan-based firm Deep Design combines the brand's retro aesthetic with cutting-edge technology. It is able to handle every step of the coffee-making process - from grinding beans and then tamping the beans into a puck to texturing milk and dispensing the right amount - so you can create high-quality barista hot drinks by pressing a button.
The machine also sports a stylish brushed aluminium front and is available in red, black or taupe, meaning it'll easily fit into the majority of kitchen designs. It's not without faults however: the majority of reviewers thought it was a bit expensive for a bean to cup maker (and it doesn't include an insulated milk pitcher).
There were also many glowing reviews of the quality of the coffee and the ease of using this machine. The digital display gives feedback and step-by-step instructions throughout the entire brewing procedure that will help you make your drink perfect every time. The machine can even instruct you to alter the size of the grind, in case that's not what you prefer. It's almost like having your own personal home barista (minus Harry Potter's cloak of invisibility and Elon Musk's rocket-building expertise).
This model is perfect for those who prefer milky drinks. The steam wand is adjustable upwards and downwards to fit a variety of drinking vessels, excluding Viking drinking horns. We were impressed with the speed and effectiveness of the frothing procedure, too. It makes an excellent, full-flavoured, delicious espresso with a fantastic crema.
The BCC02 is a great all-rounder, quiet and efficient and provides great value for money at the current price of PS499. The only issue is the fact that it doesn't offer the same level of customization as some of the other bean to cup models we've evaluated. Its pump is 15 bars rather than the standard 19 bars. This isn't as effective for making high-quality espressos. This is a great machine for those who prefer their coffee dark and strong. 2. Melitta Barista TS Smart
The Barista TS Smart is a top bean-to-cup machine that has a lot of features that help it stand out from the competition. Its most unique feature may be that it can now be controlled via your smartphone with the Melitta Connect App. This lets you change settings and dispense different coffee recipes that are stored within the machine itself.
This makes the machine extremely flexible and adaptable to your preferences. There are many options to alter the intensity of your drink, cup sizes and even whether you want milk to be added. The machine comes with two airtight bean containers that are automatically sorted for different specialities. The machine will default to using standard espresso beans and cafe creme, which is a German variant of flat white or long black. However, you can select any beans you'd like. There's also a handy chute for pre-ground coffee in case you'd prefer to make your own (for instance, if that pesky dinner guest brings their own).
The users have also been awed by the speed of the machine. They have said that it is able to produce their drinks far quicker than other machines they have used. The machine will also warn you when one of its hoppers are almost empty. This ensures that you don't run out of your preferred beverage.
The only thing that may be a disadvantage for certain people is the price. The machine is priced at PS999. However, it is far cheaper than comparable Jura machines with the same number of features.
The Barista TS Smart is backed by a generous warranty, offering two years of coverage. This is longer than the average one year guarantee, so it is a good assurance from the manufacturer. It also includes an cleaning tablet as well as a descaler, which makes it simple to stay up to date with the machine's maintenance needs. This is an excellent machine for those who are seeking a high-end and versatile bean-to-cup machine that's priced at a reasonable price.
